#64 - I love volunteering. No joke.
The shopping mall where my office is located held a 5k for community members. It was a blast! I helped out with the Kid's 1k Race and let me tell you: those kids are beasts. Some of them were not messing around. It was kind of great to watch. (Also, volunteering at races is the best because you totally get to take home the free stuff that vendors have left over. Two cases of greek yogurt? Yes, please.)
The company I work for also does a Paint-a-Thon every year in which we paint the houses of lower income or elderly community members. I love it. I sanded and painted a monster of a deck- that thing was my pride and joy for a week and I still miss it. (I do not, however, miss the million and a half slivers I got. Brutal.)
*I would also like to point out that neon lime green seems to be the go-to color for volunteer shirts this year. They must really be concerned about us getting lost in a crowd. So...thank you? And does anyone love the color lime green and want a free shirt?
#33 - I wasn't really planning on doing this one until later but found myself with free time and an inkling to go somewhere. And when an opportunity presents itself, most of the time you shouldn't think twice- you just take it.
So, I drove to Wyoming. It isn't that far from my house and I had never been. (There's a gas station in Evanston that has great Diet Dr. Pepper, by the way.) |
It's a beautiful drive. |

And I stood in two states at once. Hey- I'm actually wearing those same pants right now! Ha! |

P.S.- It was dang windy that day. I tried to take lots of pictures, but let's be real- no one has a good wind face/hair. Straight hot mess. |
